“Design is directed toward human beings. To design is to solve human problems by identifying them and executing the best solution.”

The Path Forward: Integration by Design

The Army’s modernisation effort now centres on integration as a design principle. This shift is driven through new structures such as:

  • SoldierWorks — the mandate holder for the Integrated Soldier Platform (ISP), ensuring coherent design across head, body, power, and data subsystems.

  • Programme THEIA — driving digital transformation and connectivity across all Army functions.

  • Project ASGARD — building the Army’s common data environment to allow seamless information flow from soldier to headquarters.

  • HPCSA Programme — setting new integration standards for hearing protection, communications, and situational awareness within the head subsystem.

Together, these initiatives align capability development with digital infrastructure, enabling end-to-end coherence. Integration is no longer an afterthought — it is a mandated design principle.
